Another week has gone by and I’ve knocked out another pile of comics, most of which came from my local library system. As you can see, we’ve got a mix of amazing indie artists, classic comic visionaries, crossovers and newer books. Hit the jump to see what I had to say on this batch! Tuesday Toy Commercial: Children’s Palace Nintendo Games
Here’s another great Children’s Palace ad, this one focusing on Nintendo games. What heady times those were!
Toy Commercial Tuesday: Children’s Palace Ghostbusters

As you can probably tell between last week’s TCT and this one, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on YouTube looking at various Children’s Palace ads. This was my local toy store as a kid. There’s a Best Buy where it used to be, another place I spent a lot of money when still kicking around Toledo. The Ghostbusters are just the best.
Dastardly Double Feature Episode 5 – The Invitation & The Sacrament
After more of a delay than planned, Mr. Dastardly came over to my place to watch The Invitation and The Sacrament. Watch the movies, then listen to it here, if you dare and check out the trailers below…also if you dare.
In the episode I mentioned Killer POV and Shock Waves. You can listen to Karyn Kusama talk about The Invitation here while Ti West discussed all of his films in this episode.
Trade Post: Wimpy Kid, Shade, Mind MGMT & Robocop Vs. Terminator!
Whenever possible, I like to theme my reading or at least the posts I write here on the blog, but sometimes I just wind up reading a lot of disparate trades that have nothing to do with each other. That’s the case with this mix of books I pulled from my To Read boxes and the library. Let’s get into it! Continue reading Trade Post: Wimpy Kid, Shade, Mind MGMT & Robocop Vs. Terminator!
Toy Commercial Tuesday: Children’s Palace 1979
There used to be a Children’s Palace near my house growing up. I don’t remember a roller skating panda being a part of the proceedings, but then again, I wasn’t born until four years after this bonkers spot aired.
Friday Fisticuffs: Close Range & Hard Target 2
I’ve been a fan of Scott Adkins’ action flicks since I first saw Assassination Games back in 2012. The next year I was blown away by Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning, which is still one of the best action films I’ve ever seen. With that in mind, I’m pretty much watching every one of his movies that pop up on Netflix or Amazon Prime. As it happens, the Flix has a nice pair in Close Range and Hard Target 2!

Trade Post: Just A Pilgrim, Criminal & Martian Manhunter
I’ve been doing some cleaning in the garage and want to whittle down my To Read boxes so I dove in and came out with this batch. Here’s what I thought!
Back when I worked at Wizard, I found a batch of Black Bull trades that were up for grabs. If you’re unfamiliar, that was the short-lived comic company created by the higher ups at Wizard. I haven’t read anything but the two Just A Pilgrim books, so I can’t speak to the overall quality of the line, but I liked these Garth Ennis and Carlos Ezquerra stories!
