Ad It Up: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure NES Game

I haven’t actually blogged about Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure because I haven’t seen it in quite a few years, but it was a definite cable staple of my childhood and a movie I really loved. This ad of the NES video game based partially on the movie comes from 1991’s Silver Surfer #54. I don’t believe I ever played the game which is probably for the best because these kinds of things tended to overwhelm and sometimes still do. I like how these ads show big pieces of art work or photos and then very tiny in-game footage, but what else are you gonna do, show full page 8-bit versions of Rufus? I’m probably good on catching this game on the flipside, but I do want to find some of the action figures that play guitars.

Toy Commercial Tuesday: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

I’m not sure how these toys missed my keen kid eye when they came out in 1989. I wasn’t the guitar nut I would eventually become, but I was still a big fan of the movie (though maybe that came about later when I saw this bad boy on VHS). I first discovered these figures and their rock-playing action feature when I wrote my beloved action feature feature for ToyFare. I’d love to get my hands on these figures now, does anyone still have them and do they still rock out?
