I haven’t done a lot of blogging this year, but, don’t worry, I’ve still been watching a ton of movies! I’ve even been keeping track of everything I’ve watched or read in a pair of Composition Note Books that I’ve (not so) cleverly dubbed Pop Notes. Thanks to them, I’m pretty confident looking back at the year and piecing together thoughts on some of my fave film-watching experiences (minus horror, which will get a list or two of their own). While reading Ready Player One, I felt the urge to watch some 80s movies, as I’m sure plenty of other people have since the book came out six years ago. With that in mind, I took to both Netflix and Amazon Prime to make that happen. I didn’t wind up with films directly mentioned in the book (if memory serves, which it doesn’t always), but did come up with a pair of favorites: Teen Wolf and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Book Report: Ready Player One By Ernest Cline
You wouldn’t know it to look at the blog here, but I’ve been reading a LOT lately. I’m working on a few posts that will cover my experiences reading Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter books while I also watched the series Hannibal and then the films, but they’re not ready yet. However, after finishing the book Hannibal, I found myself not wanting to get into Hannibal Rising, but still needed something to read. A buddy had just recommended Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One from 2011 and I figured why not? I really enjoyed the book, but a few things stuck with me in different ways.
