Commercial Commentary: Lady Sovereign’s Bally’s Total Fitness

I discovered Lady Sovereign back when her first record Public Warning came out. I heard her Tetris-themed song “Love Me Or Hate Me” and dug her sound. Rickey eventually bought the CD and I listened to it a few times. I liked it, but repeated listenings kind of got on my nerves. I do like her flow and attitude. According to Wiki, she’s part of the British grime scene, which doesn’t mean what I thought it would (that the content is grimey, it’s more about how the beats are put together). Anyway, my ears perked up a few weeks ago when this Bally’s commercial started playing with Sovereign’s music. The video above shows her name and the song’s name “I Got You Dancing” but I haven’t seen that on air. The big tip off for me was her patented “Ess oh VEEEEEEEE” in the beginning of the song. Here’s the actual video for the song.
