Playmates’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line started off as an amazing collection of weird and wild characters, both heroes and villains, that charged the imaginations of millions of kids. It would eventually turn into wave after wave of gimmicky renditions of Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello. This group of Wacky Action Turtles was an early precursor to those darker later days, but they were pretty damn fun for kids. I had the Sewer Swimming Donatello myself and would play with him in the bathtub. I’m sure I surprised my mom who would come upstairs after hearing the tub filling up only to see me sitting fully clothed next to the tub playing with my toys.
