Bad News Of The Day: Tony Jaa Retiring, Becoming Monk

Say it ain’t so! According to /Film, Tony Jaa has retired from acting (or rather, kneeing dudes in the face on film) to pursue a life as a Bhuddist monk. The speculation is that, after some troubles during the filming of Ong-Bak 2, Jaa wanted to get out of his 10 year contract and this is the best he could come up with. I would also suggest kneeing someone in the face, but I appreciate he took the civil route.

As anyone who reads this blog with any regularity knows, I’m a huge Tony Jaa fan. He’s rocked my world in Ong-Bak, The Protector and Ong-Bak 2 and his cameos in Spirited Killer and The Bodyguard. Even with somewhat repetitive plots, Tony Jaa action movies remain the best of the last few years and I hope he comes back with a quickness and doesn’t feel the need to make a bunch of period piece action movies. Those bore the crap out of me.
